How U-100 syringe units are calculated
U-100 is a volume scale: 100 marked units equal 1 milliliter, so one marked unit equals 0.01 mL.

Start with the fixed volume relationship
The FDA describes the standard 1.0 mL U-100 syringe as a 100-unit syringe. That makes the scale a direct milliliter conversion: 100 units = 1 mL and 1 unit = 0.01 mL.
The markings do not independently tell you how many milligrams or micrograms are present. That depends on concentration.
Formula: milliliters × 100 = U-100 syringe units
Check: Confirm that the physical syringe is actually labeled U-100 and 1 mL before applying this relationship.
Calculate amount per marked unit
First put the vial amount and target amount in the same mass unit. Then divide the total vial amount by the total number of U-100 units in the entered liquid volume.
For a math-only example, 10 mg distributed through 2 mL spans 200 U-100 units. That equals 0.05 mg, or 50 mcg, per marked unit.
Formula: amount per unit = total vial amount ÷ (liquid mL × 100)
Check: A printed vial amount is an input, not proof that measured content matches the label.
Convert an entered target into a mark
Divide the user-entered target amount by the amount contained in each marked unit. In the example above, an entered target of 250 mcg divided by 50 mcg per unit produces a 5-unit result.
The calculator performs this normalization automatically and shows the equivalent milliliter volume beside the mark.
